The Helm Center is offering cognitive behavioral therapy to patients in need of psychological services. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a type of talk therapy that helps patients to understand the thoughts and feelings that influence their behaviors and experiences.
Cognitive behavioral therapy has been shown to be extremely helpful for patients with chronic pain. Throughout treatment, patients will learn techniques to help better manage their pain, such as relaxation techniques, coping skills, sleep hygiene, activity scheduling, and they will learn how their negative thoughts and beliefs about pain influence their pain experience.
Cognitive behavioral therapy sessions will generally be held once per week for approximately one hour.
